My bro (in the literal sense) Nick is on the home page of Reddit this morning with an article about the chopper crash yesterday. As always, it’s all in the headline:
Can you Believe they are Charging the Fugitive Driver for the Deaths in the Press Chopper Crash?

Writing headlines of pure genius like this is going to rapidly become a very desirable skill.
That’s very complementary! Thank you.
I completely agree with the importance of the headline copy and I spent a great deal of time on it based on your advice.
At the time of seing this event in the news, I immediately realised that this event would be “top of mind” for many Americans checking the web on Saturday morning – As it was for me in South Africa a good few hour earlier. Yes, all we do overhere is watch the U.S.
The fact that the article has a level of controversy might have helped, with some pretty interesting debate taking place on Reddit so far.
So yes, kick ass header copy, a unique (for Reddit) current affair, and a little controversy where the success factors – I think!! All which is easily said but very difficult to repeat.
Last time I checked Reddit, it was still riding in the top 10 so we will see how long it lasts. Thanks for the catchy headline pointers.
Nick
