Great blog post! Although some might argue that saving on bandwidth is a minor thing, I would argue that you are right on the money. With more and more mobile/cellphones devices connecting to the Web, bandwidth and making sure we utilize it properly will be critical for the continued expansion of the Web.

Also, Websockets is now implemented in Chrome with some Basic features.
