Hackerflow: Stats For Hacker News For The Last 7 Days
This app uses Pacific Time. Stats are updated every 10 minutes and are compiled by visiting the "news" page and "newest" page of hacker news at the same frequency.
The only visibiliy this system has is those two pages, so for example I don't count votes or comments for items that are
no longer listed on these two pages. Please see the notes section at the end of this page.

Charts For The Last 7 days
Note: The right side of this graph will always trend downwards.
The keyword list below is converted to lowercase and run through a stopword filter. I use MySQL's list of stopwords.
The "www." is stripped from domains in the domain list. The start and end of some graphs will behave strangely e.g. "Time an item spends on the home page"
will dip at the end because items currently on the home page will probably still be there for a while.
The graph of Votes / Submissions is: Votes per hour divided by submissions in that same hour. This gives you an indication of when the best time to post is. i.e. When
HN is getting the most votes per submission.
The crawler that gathers this data identifies itself as 'HN Stats Bot' and obeys the news.ycombinator.com/robots.txt including crawl-delay.
The data on this page is approximate and this project is purely for fun. Please contact mmaunder at gmail dot com with any questions or comments.
